This May an Aqua Clara team went to Southern Nicaragua to build 210 Bio-Sand Filters in the Papaturro River Region.  A 4-hour boat ride was taken by the ACI team from San Carlos, Nicaragua. This was due to the lack of roads leading to the village. All together, 186 filters were constructed and village leaders were trained to build the remaining 24 filters when more gravel was to arrive from Costa Rica. It was a very successful trip and ACI plans to go back to construct a Facility Filter Unit for the health clinic and school in the center of the village.
