Water Filtration System

At Aqua Clara International, we design and distribute water filtration systems for use in rural communities throughout the world. By partnering with local businesses and entrepreneurs, our water filtration system can be easily deployed to provide clean water anywhere in the world. Our systems use no electricity and can be provided at little cost, making them an ideal solution for any water crisis.

Our Bio-Sand Filter is our most popular water filtration system and is deployed around the world. This filter can only be used by individual families but can be easily manufactured at a low cost with local materials. By distributing this technology to businesses and entrepreneurs in the area, a community is able to solve its own water crisis while stimulating the local economy.

Aqua Clara also has larger-scale solutions. For instance, our Community Filter is a water filtration system designed to serve a facility or village. While these filters are more intensive to construct, they are still made from locally available materials and can be maintained by the community.

Most of our water filtration system projects are funded by support from our donors and customers. Purchase our Universal Cartridge Filter for your household and help support these projects.

About Aqua Clara International

Scientists long ago discovered how to purify unsafe water.  To us, the central issue has been in designing solutions that are both sustainable and scalable and that can reach the millions in need while at the same time continuing to function without sustained outside input.  Our target populations are those individuals and families who live on $2 per day or less.

We are a technology transfer organization. Our niche in clean water continues to be in designing science-based technologies that utilize locally available materials where possible and then transferring what we learn to those working in areas of need.  The cost of our technologies varies by country and is dependent on the prevailing costs of raw materials, such as plastic containers, PVC piping, sand, etc. Learn more by visiting our website.
