Beyond Water

The ACI program model is intentionally designed to grow beyond water filters.  There are significant economies of scale and benefits to the people we serve by adding additional products to the menu of what the Community Development Entrepreneurs can construct and sell.  Well constructed rainwater harvesting systems, ecological sanitation as well as simple drip irrigation systems are all on the horizon for program expansion in Kenya.  ACI is working with several experts in the water, sanitation and hygiene field to ensure that we are following the best practice in these new areas of program expansion.

We are referring to this program as ‘Water+' as it will build upon the success of the water filters and include other relevant WASH products available through the existing network of dispersed rural entrepreneurs.  As with the core program, these new products will be demonstrated at schools and sold to the surrounding community.  Rigorous monitoring and testing will continue to ensure that people are getting a high quality product and service for their investment.
